A&Z #1068 - Professional eater Randy Santel versus Pancheros' Massive Full Menu Mexican Food Challenge hosted by the Pancheros Mexican Grill location in downtown Iowa City, Iowa!! I finished up my dietetic internship on May 19th, 2022 and @Katina Eats Kilos and I knew we were leaving for Dublin, Ireland on June 7, 2022 to begin our international travel plans. Before leaving, we wanted to attempt 12 food challenges around 7 midwestern USA states. For event #3 of 12, we headed to downtown Iowa City, Iowa which is the home of the original Pancheros Mexican Grill first opened in 1992. Katina and I were the first 2 people to attempt and help kick off the new full menu Mexican food challenge at Pancheros Mexican Grill which was absolutely delicious!! I went first and had 1 full hour to feast on one of each item on the Pancheros menu, supersized, using one of their delicious protein options. I ordered a chicken burrito, a beef steak burrito bowl, a pork carnitas quesadilla, and a Tofusada salad. I also enjoyed 4 tacos, one of each of the 4 proteins. Last but not least, I had to finish an order of their famous blue corn tortilla chips with queso cheese sauce. I was trying to become the first person to win my full menu meal free plus a sweet gift box set of t-shirts and a spot on the downtown Iowa City location's Wall of Fame. BIG thanks to everyone with Pancheros Mexican Grill for the wonderful food, drinks, and hospitality!! Special thanks to everyone from around the Iowa City area who came to watch and meet us that early afternoon. - Pancheros Mexican Grill is a chain of fast casual Tex-Mex restaurants in the United States serving Mexican-style cuisine. The chain was founded in 1992 by Rodney Anderson when he opened two units: one in Iowa City, Iowa, and one in East Lansing, Michigan. There are currently 72 units throughout the United States.
- This full menu food challenge was offered to Katina and me, and is not a public challenge available at all Pancheros locations.
- Pancheros offers burritos, burrito bowls, tacos, quesadillas, and salads as part of their menu.
- Pancheros is known for using machine pressed flour tortillas made from scratch at each location.
- Pancheros offers 4 proteins for each option - chicken, beef steak, pork carnitas, and Tofusada.
- For this full menu challenge, I enjoyed a supersized chicken burrito, a massive steak burrito bowl, a pork carnitas quesadilla, and 4 delicious tacos, including one of each protein.

Polycephaly is a condition wherein an animal is born with two heads. Some cultures think it as a
blessing, while others think it a curse. No matter what people think, one thing we can all agree on is that
creatures with this condition truly are weird. Today, we will be looking at 10 weird two headed animals.
Better make sure you stay until number one, that entry is adorableness times two.

Number 10. Squirt and Crush
There have been quite a few cases of turtles with two heads, but most of them ore of the small varieties.
It’s so much rarer to find these kinds of mutations on larger species, so when a baby loggerhead turtle
was discovered with two heads just a couple of months ago, the news stirred quite a buzz.
A sea turtle patrol on Hilton Island in South Carolina discovered an extremely rare two-headed
loggerhead hatchling, which was desperately trying to keep up with its brothers and sisters, who were
on their way to the sea. It was very alive and energetic, but it had a deformed shell, making movement
extremely difficult. The people who discovered the twins, whom they affectionately named Squirt and
Crush, say that this is an extremely rare finding in their area, with the last discovery happening 15 long
years ago.
Turtle hatchlings already have a very difficult time in the wild, wherein only 1 in 1000 are expected to
survive to adulthood. If this hatchling wasn’t discovered, its chances of survival in the wild are next to
none. It’s a good thing that the twins were discovered, this should at least give them a better chance at
survival.

Number 9. The Two Headed Cardinal
Birds are some of the rarest animals found with two heads. It must be because that any animal with this
mutation really have little to no chance of surviving out in the wild. So, when this bird was found in
Western Massachusetts, it was indeed quite a rare find. What makes this find even rarer, and
admittedly, weirder, is the fact that not only that this bird had two heads, it had two beaks as well.
April Britt from Northampton, noticed that Cardinals have been flying around her property. Finding this
strange, she went out to investigate what was happening. During her investigation, she spotted this tiny
bird on the lower branches in one of the trees. Although still young, it was quite clear that the bird was
already a couple of weeks old, which was covered in juvenile feathers.
The find even made it to the local news, and Britt was interviewed regarding her find. Unfortunately, the
bird is not expected to live that long. Experts say that due to its deformity, even flying was an impossible
feat.

Number 8. The First of its Kind
While two headed turtles and birds are quite common, relatively speaking, this next entry on our list
truly is the first of its kind.

Back in 2017, a Dutch fisherman fishing in the North Sea caught something truly weird in his nets. Along
with his catch of the day, he found a deformed animal, which was clearly just an infant. Unfortunately,
the creature was no longer alive when it was fished out of the ocean. Thinking it was illegal to keep such
an animal, he subsequently threw it back into the sea, but not before taking a few photos of it.
Upon examination of the photos, experts came to the conclusion that what the fisherman found was a
baby two headed harbor porpoise. According to Erwin Kompanje of the National Museum of History in
Rotterdam says that conjoined twins in whales and dolphins are extremely rare and he was only aware
of nine other published cases worldwide.
Number 7. Lucky the Calf
Lucky the Two Headed Calf was born at a farm in Kentucky owned by husband and wife Stan and Brandy
McCubbin. The couple said that in the seven years that they’ve been running the farm, they have never
encountered an animal quite like lucky.
Technically speaking, Lucky doesn’t have two heads, but rather have two faces; with two mouths, two
noses, and four eyes. Lucky. However, only seemed to have one brain, as when the McCubbins try to
feed one mouth, the other mouth moves in unison. This makes Lucky quite an even rarer case of
polycephaly.
A veterinary team from the University of Illinois grew interested in Lucky, and was interested to give her
an operation that would potentially prolong her life. The McCubbins were even able to raise $1200 for
the operation.

SUMMARY
- The birthplace of this curly-haired pig is Hungary where it was discovered in the mid-19th century. Due to the fleece covering this animal, it resembles a sheep, therefore, such a name!
- The name of this species is roxellana, and there is a story behind it. It is believed that they were called this way after the supposedly snub-nosed courtesan of Suleiman the Magnificent (a 16th century Sultan of the Ottoman Empire).
- They were called like this because of the resemblance of their mustache to that of German Emperor Wilhelm II.
- Patagonia Mara is the fourth largest rodent on our planet. There are several interesting facts about them. Females often put offsprings into crèches for safety.
- Fluffy cows are looked after by people whose work is to wash, dry and use products to style these animals, so they look as fluffy as they do! It is necessary to maintain them daily, and it will take months of regular grooming until they get this lovely look of kids toys.
- If you see a creature which looks as if it’s trying to catch an alien radio signal from space, it’s most likely Markhor Goat. They can grow as long as 6 ft from head to tail!
- If you can’t decide if you want to have a dog or a raccoon as a pet, we have just the thing for you - raccoon dog! Despite having raccoon-like markings on their fur, they are not very closely related to the North American raccoon.
- Blue Footed Booby are to catch your eye if you ever visit the Galapagos Islands. They can look a bit clumsy and comical on land, but they are excellent at flying and swimming.
- Colugo has a large gliding membrane (like a flying squirrel), and they can glide for long distances between trees standing far apart.
- Even if the Poodle Moth may look as if it lives in Antarctica with all this fur, in fact, it comes from Venezuela, a tropical country. Its hairs don’t serve for heating.

Cloud Antelope! This species lives in the clouds (that’s why such a name)! Its bright blue fur is the reflection of cloudless blue skies in the area of its habitat. Its diet consists of sun rays and candies...

14. Leafy Seadragon
Another creature from ocean that is sure to make waves when you realize it's real, is the Leafy Seadragon. A perfect name for it!
When you look at it, it looks like a simple piece of seaweed, yet, it's actually alive. The creature was found off the coast of Australia, and is proof that the ocean still holds many secrets.

13. Angora Rabbits
What is there to say? This is a rabbit that has so much fur, you honestly can't tell that it's a rabbit. I bet you were expecting something much different when I mentioned "rabbit" in the title, huh?

12. Pangolin
There are a lot of weird creatures out in the world, and some of them look like fusions between other animals. One example of this is the Pangolin, a mammal known to roam the lands of Asia and Africa. It's also one of the most trafficked mammals in the world.

11. Komondor
Take a look at this breed of dog. Do you think that this breed was made to look like this? You’d think someone spent hours and hours creating dreadlocks in this dogs fur, but nope! This it the Komondor, and that's exactly how it looks without anyone touching it.

10. Axolotl
From the weird to the creepy, I present to you the Axolotl. Yes, it really does look like that in real life, that's why it's on this list.

9. Glass Frogs
It's incredible the evolutions and adaptations that animals will go through during their lifecycles on this planet. However, you have to question some of them. While the armor of the Pangolin is understandable, this creature’s evolution is a little mysterious. Here we have a frog...that's see-through.

8. The Dumbo Octopus
The name isn't referring to these Octopuses being stupid, far from it. They're called this because they have fins near the top of their heads that resemble flappy ears. Just like Dumbo the elephant from the Disney movie.

7. Saiga Antelope
From the depths of the ocean to the vastness of Asia, three countries are home to a very curious breed of antelope. It's called the Saiga Antelope, and it’s a pretty strange creature.

6. Pacu Fish
Piranha are one of the most dangerous fish in the world, and have sometimes even been considered some of the most dangerous animals in the world. But their cousins, for lack of a better term, are definitely one of the strangest animals in the world. They're called the Pacu fish, and they'll give you nightmares for different reasons.

This one not only looks strange, it acts strange. This is the Mary River Turtle. It can be found in Queensland, Australia, and yes, it has green, spiky hair. Why does it have green hair? No idea, but you have to admit it looks kinda cool, right??

Let's talk now about one of the strangest and rarest animals in the world, from a family that you wouldn't expect to see on this list...a crocodile. Specifically the Gharial.

Tamanduas

Coming all the way from South America, the tamanduas have become quite popular among people who like to own exotic pets. Surely enough, adopting one can cost you anything between 3,000 to 8,000 US dollars - and it might be illegal in some places, so you might want to check that out before getting excited. These anteaters love their insects, but they will also be happy with any beef, soft fruits and eggs that you feed them. They do not have teeth, but they have very long claws that allow them to process their food. They like cuddles and enjoy the outdoors. You just need to set up a nice obstacle course and a little nest for them to be happy and busy during the day. Doesn't that sound like the perfect companion?

Capybaras

And here's another cute pet that comes from Central and South America: the Capybaras. This mammal, which is considered the largest rodent in the world, has become a very popular exotic pet. But, don't let all that cuteness fool you - they are very tricky pets and they require a lot of attention. Given the fact that they are, naturally, very social animals, they should have at least one other Capybara living with them so they can be happy. Otherwise their quality of life will be compromised. And you better get a swimming pool if you don't have one! Because capybaras are semiaquatic and they will likely go for a swim sooner or later - and we don't want to see a sad capybara, right? They need their water to stay happy. Like I mentioned earlier, they're the largest rodent alive today, so expect them to be a bit taller than 50 centimeters and they will weigh around 30 kilos - so you will need a huge space if you want to enclose them. It sounds like a lot of work, doesn't it?

Sugar Gliders

And here's another exotic pet, this one comes all the way from Australia and New Guinea. I'm talking about the Sugar Gliders. These marsupials also require a lot of care. Just like you need water for the capybaras, you need a lot of space for the sugar gliders to...fly! That's right, these animals like to stretch out their arms to the side and glide through the air - there's a reason why they're called sugar gliders! And these animals are also social to an extreme, so if you ever decided to adopt one, you will actually need to take two! Otherwise, the sugar gliders will become grumpy, which will make them hard to adapt to a domesticated lifestyle. This could lead to them chewing and nipping on things. Since it's an exotic animal, it is illegal to own one in some places, and still, even if it is legal, they might require special permits to prove your government that you didn't acquire one illegally. Sounds like a lot of obstacles just to get these cute animals, but some people are eager to go through all that just so they can bring a pair of sugar gliders into their home.

Alpacas

Alright. The next animal is not necessarily exotic in the same way other animals are, and it has become quite popular in media and memes over the last couple of years. But still, it's not an animal you expect to see in people's homes as often as others. It's the Alpaca. These interesting animals are from South America and they have been good company to humans for centuries!

This insect is one of the most horrendous and annoying plagues of the cultivations around the world.

-The Goliath tigerfish

Dog Vs Lizard

I’m guessing dogs and lizards are not the best of friends and in this first video, we can see exactly why that is, as this dog circles this lizard trying to find a way to bite it. The lizard keeps his guard and swings his tail in the hopes of scaring off the dog, but the dog insists and wants to fight the lizard. Nothing much happens, except when the dog tries biting the lizard's tail. The lizard eventually heads for the taller grass where the dog slowly becomes less interested in the reptile. In our next video, the assailant is the lizard this time and it charges the dog on several occasions until they both go tumbling down the road after which the dog gets a firm grip on the lizard’s neck. The lizard manages to free itself, but it looks like it's injured.

A second dog joins the fight, and it looks to be the dog’s midget brother. The lizard fends them both off and it looks like it will be okay, for now. Next, this large lizard is surrounded by four dogs that bark a lot, but that’s about it. It seems like neither of the dogs has the guts to make the first move, so they just taunt the lizard and annoy it to the tilt. This next dog doesn’t waste any time and immediately bites this lizard in its mid-section repeatedly, to the point of cutting it. The lizard tries to fend off the attacks to the best of its abilities, but it looks like the dog has the ‘upper paw” in this one. Finally, these three dogs chase this monitor lizard, but they don’t accomplish much except for a little barking and running.

Bird Vs Praying Mantis

The Praying Mantis can be preyed upon by certain birds, but it’s never easy for a bird that tries to take on this murderous insect. Most people know how deadly the praying mantis is and I‘m thinking this little bird knows it too because as much as it flies back and forth, trying to find an angle to attack the killer insect, it never comes close enough for the mantis to deliver its fatal blow. In our next clip, this bird takes a few shots at the mantis, but the mantis stands its ground until a crazy lizard comes flying out of nowhere and attacks the mantis.

The bird realizes there is too much going on and decides to fly away. All the birds taking on the praying mantis hesitate and are not able to make the kill, just like this other bird, meddling around in mantis territory without accomplishing anything. However, this Northern Cardinal doesn’t waste any time and after a few pecks at this mantis, it snatches the mantis and flies home with its meal. I guess the mantis can’t win them all. Finally, another mantis bites the dust as this bird gives it a serious beating, but the mantis tries to resist no matter what.

This was the swan that had swallowed the fish hook,and a bubble float hanging from it's beak. It was Transported by Yvonne to the clinic where it was put under an anaesthetic to take x-rays. The hook was present lodged in the oesophagus. The best option was to use an endoscope which allows you to see using an eye piece. With time and patience by vet Colm they located the site. They had to remove some food and grass to see the hook. Eventually were able to grab the fishing line and pull it out and clamp it at the mouth so they didn't lose it again. It could not pull out with risk of line snapping and causing more damage with the hook on the way out. Taking 2 hours they eventually manoeuvred the hook and released it from the oesophagus. Taken to the shelter and given meds for the inflammation down his throat.
