Documentary
At age 58 Grant is rushed to hospital with a heart attack and is told he needs open heart surgery. This documentary tells his story of discovering how a whole food plant-based diet could turn his life around, and his journey to find out why government officials hadn’t warned him of the real dangers of fat. Grant also seeks interviews with New Zealand’s Heart Foundation, Cancer Society and major milk and beef companies.
In the course of his journey Grant interviews; 7 professors, 9 doctors, 8 specialists and numerous case studies where people are delivered from; heart attacks, obesity, diabetes, cancer and gastro disease.
This film confronts the established medical institutions’ reliance on medicine and surgery, while ignoring the outstanding health benefits of a plant based diet.
Grant uses wry humour and grandchild snippets to illustrate, when on his mission to not only show that animal products are dangerous, but a plant based lifestyle rewards with fantastic health.
In today's true crime documentary, we're covering the case of Markeith Loyd.

The story of what led to Vladimir Putin’s war on Ukraine.
This journalism is made possible by viewers like you. Support your local PBS station here: http://www.pbs.org/donate.
Through in-depth conversations with multiple heads of U.S. intelligence agencies, diplomats, Russian politicians, historians and journalists, this special report chronicles events that shaped the Russian leader, the grievances that drive him, and how a growing conflict with the West exploded into war in Europe.
From acclaimed filmmaker Michael Kirk and his team, the documentary traces how Putin went from low-ranking KGB agent to longtime Russian president. It delves into his crackdown on dissent — and the media — inside Russia. It reveals how he has tested the West’s appetite for confrontation over and over again, including in Ukraine in 2014, as he’s tried to expand Russia’s global footprint. And it raises difficult questions about the path forward.
Watch the documentary for an urgent examination of what led to this historic moment and how it could still unfold.

In February 2020, a shocking video began to circulate on Chinese social media. A group of African children are being instructed, by a voice off-camera, to chant phrases in Chinese. The kids repeat the words with smiles and enthusiasm — but they don’t understand that what they’re being told to say is “I am a black monster and my IQ is low.” The clip ignited outrage in China and beyond.
But no-one ever answered the crucial questions: Why was this filmed? Where was it shot? Who made it?
These questions send #BBCAfricaEye and #BBCEyeInvestigations reporters Runako Celina and Henry Mhango on a journey into a Chinese video-making industry that exploits vulnerable children across the continent.

Space is the boundless three-dimensional extent in which objects and events have relative position and direction. Physical space is often conceived in three linear dimensions, although modern physicists usually consider it, with time, to be part of a boundless four-dimensional continuum known as spacetime. The concept of space is considered to be of fundamental importance to an understanding of the physical universe. However, disagreement continues between philosophers over whether it is itself an entity, a relationship between entities, or part of a conceptual framework.

From Medellin’s elite clubbers to the cartel queens that run the underworld, all of a sudden everyone in Colombia seems to be snorting pink “cocaine,” also known as “tucibi.”
It’s fashionable, it’s six times as expensive as regular “white” cocaine, it has its own genre of music called “Guaracha,” and it’s so popular that it has even spawned a whole new generation of “neo-narcos.”
Cartels are expanding production into Europe, so expect to see this “magic pink powder” in Ibiza this season - if you haven’t already.
But here’s the thing - it isn’t cocaine, and has nothing in common with 2CB (the drug's namesake).
So, what is it? Matt Shea delves deep into Medellin’s underworld to find out, in a journey that takes us to the cartel queen who started it all.

The story of the AIDS epidemic and the man accused of starting it.
When a new, deadly virus spreads across North America at an alarming rate, one man is singled out for bringing the disease to the continent.
Spanning the 1970s until today, the story of Gaetan Dugas –aka ‘Patient Zero’ –serves as the perfect microcosm of the evolution of AIDS in America and the country’s response to it.
In the early 1980s, little was known about this global epidemic, except that it seemed to be most prevalent amongst gay men. America was in the grip of fear and uncertainty and, in the scramble for answers, Dugas would become known and vilified as ‘Patient Zero’.
Exploring timely themes about fear, the demonizing of the unknown, and the danger of false narratives, this FadooProductions and Fine Point Films documentary weaves social history and scientific investigation into a poignant story of an individual who became intrinsically and tragically linked with AIDS.

Over the next 20 years, the center of gravity of the world economy will shift to the Indo-Pacific region, the countries around the Indian and Pacific Oceans. What will the world look like if China is soon the world economic leader?
We seem to be at a turning point in our history. While one superpower, Russia, is showing its true dictatorial face with the invasion of Ukraine, the other superpower, China, is also taking an increasingly clear position. According to forecasts, this country, with its 1.4 billion inhabitants, will overtake the US as a world economic power sometime in the next 20 years.
Will we then fall back into a cold war mindset where two rival superpowers face each other as arch-enemies? Or will we move toward a multipolar world, where we will have to share power in the world?

FRONTLINE follows the money to uncover how Wall Street and a breed of for-profit universities transformed the way we think about college in America. (Aired 2010)

In “College, Inc.,” correspondent Martin Smith investigates the promise and explosive growth of the for-profit higher education industry. Through interviews with school executives, government officials, admissions counselors, former students, and industry observers, the documentary explores the tension between the industry — which says it's helping an underserved student population obtain a quality education and marketable job skills — and critics who charge the for-profits with churning out worthless degrees that leave students with a mountain of debt. At the center of it all stands a vulnerable population of potential students, often working adults eager for a university degree to move up the career ladder.

In the middle of the most violent regional capital in Brazil, a brutal gang war is being fought over control of the drug supply routes of the Northwestern Amazon region. Poverty and coercion force many young men into a life of crime where the only ways to escape are incarceration or death.
But amidst the carnage, there is a glimmer of hope - the “91” is a group of former gang lords turned pastors, who offer salvation to gang members who want to leave the criminal life. Their standing in the gang community, forged out of years of service and hard-fought respect, mean that only they can vouch for criminals looking to trade crime for the path of God.
By recording videos of these gangsters in repentance - that follow a tight script and are then shared with the higher ranks of the gangs for approval - they are saving hundreds of lives that Brazilian institutions overlook. This is the story of the “91”.

A great research documentary on the extreme depths of the Mariana Trench and the mind blowing unseen sea creatures. Very well narrated documentary by David Attenborough. The Mariana Trench or Marianas Trench is located in the western Pacific Ocean about 200 kilometers east of the Mariana Islands; it is the deepest oceanic trench on earth. The maximum known depth of Marian Trench is 10,984 meters however, some unrepeated measurements place the deepest portion at 11,034 meters.
This NHK documentary is all about the facts and under water life in the deepest sea floor at about 8KM to 10KM below the water level. A hair-raising film on the descent into the Mariana Trench where water exerts a pressure of 1,086 bars (15,750 psi) and the temperature is between 1 to 4 °C (34 to 39 °F).
After the deadly airline crash of Continental 3407 in Buffalo, New York, FRONTLINE investigated the accident and discovered a dramatically changed airline industry, where regional carriers accounted for half of the nation's daily departures and insiders worried about the aviation system being stretched beyond its capacity to deliver service that is both cheap and safe. The rise of the regionals and the arrival of low-cost carriers were seen as a boon to consumers, and the industry insisted that the skies remained safe. But decades after deregulation, many insiders worried that the airline system had been stretched beyond its capacity to deliver service that was both cheap and safe.

The Mediterranean Sea is crisscrossed by traffics of every kind, some legal, others lethal. Over the last five years, we have been putting together the pieces of a tragic and terrifying story of the merchants of death. Lethal Cargo covers the escape of refugees from war regions in leaky boats, the spilling of toxic waste into the depths of the ocean during goods transportation and in our two most recent episodes, the illegal handling of drugs and weapon across the Mediterranean. Shockingly, the governments that should be trying to stem the tide of this illegal trades are the very ones involved in a tangled web of corruption!

Documentary by SBC News covering Streets of Philadelphia, Kensington Ave.
Philadelphia's most dangerous street.
Problems with Drugs and Crime in Kensington Ave, Philadelphia
In Philadelphia as a whole, violent crime and drug abuse are major issues. The city has a higher rate of violent crime than the national average and other similarly sized metropolitan areas. The drug overdose rate in Philadelphia is also concerning. Between 2013 and 2015, the number of drug overdose deaths in the city increased by 50%, with more than twice as many deaths from overdoses as homicides. 2 Kensington's high crime rate and drug abuse contribute significantly to Philadelphia's problems.
Because of the high number of drugs in the neighborhood, Kensington has the third-highest drug crime rate by neighborhood in Philadelphia, at 3.57. The opioid epidemic has played a significant role in this problem, as it has in much of the rest of the country. Opioid abuse has skyrocketed in the United States over the last two decades, and Philadelphia is no exception. In addition to having a high rate of drug overdose deaths, 80% of Philadelphia's overdose deaths involved opioids, and Kensington is a significant contributor to this figure. This Philadelphia neighborhood is said to have the largest open-air heroin market on the East Coast, with many neighbors migrating to the area for heroin and other opioids. With such a high concentration of drugs in Kensington, many state and local officials have focused on the neighborhood in an attempt to address Philadelphia's problem.
